This was a fantastic debut for Kathryn Breaux. The story and its magic are incredibly unique and well-thought-out.

Briar is a tough FMC. She knows her worth and is willing to fight until the end for her loved ones and her freedom. She is powerful and has an amazing journey in this book. I can’t wait to see how she continues to grow in this series.

Great side characters are so important in a fantasy book; their presence enriches the plot. This book did not disappoint. Briar finds the support she needs from her friends and the lovely Silas. Silas is a very dark and protective MMC, but I feel he has a bigger role to play in the upcoming series.

This book was full of action, romance, and many magical creatures wanting to dominate the world. The ending was a little heartbreaking, but it wouldn’t be a series without a heart-stopping cliffhanger.
